FIN-DM Background

FIN-DM is an adaptation and extension of CRISP-DM (Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining). The purpose of this extension is to cover number of ‘gaps’ discovered in original CRISP-DM model, and to address specifics of data mining in the financial services.

FIN-DM consists of 5 components grouped into representation Layers:

FIN-DM Conceptual View – Layer 1
FIN-DM Hierarchical View and Key Enablers list – Layer 2
Accompanying Checklists (4 in total) – Layer 3, and
Supplements:
- Glossary covering key terms used in the FIN-DM
- Application Guidance, which provides description of the FIN-DM and its goals, and guides users in applying the model.
